How we research

The same five checks go into every review, comparison, top-pick list and coupon page.

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Research-based, not hands-on. Unless a page clearly says we used a product ourselves, our verdicts come from the research below, not from using the product.

1. Official sources first

Specs, prices, materials and sizes come from the brand's official website or its official retail listings. We record the date we checked. Prices change often, so we show that date next to every price.

2. The fine print

We read the shipping, returns and warranty pages in full and write out what matters: how long you have to return, who pays return shipping, any restocking fees, and what the warranty actually covers.

3. Safety and recall records

We search the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall database and, for food, supplements and personal care, FDA records. If we find a relevant recall, we mention it, even when it is unflattering to a brand we work with.

4. Brand claims kept separate

When a brand says its product "may help" with something, or quotes its own lab results, we label it "according to the brand". We do not present marketing claims as facts we have verified. For health and beauty products we never claim that a product fixes a medical condition.

5. Dated, sourced and corrected

Every page lists when it was last checked and links to its main sources. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will fix it. See our Corrections policy.

How coupon codes are checked

Codes come from official sources, such as a brand's affiliate program or the brand's own site. For each code we note the discount, conditions, source and the date we last checked it. Expired codes move to a separate list so you can see what changed.

How we choose what to cover

We focus on brands that sell directly to US shoppers and that we can research thoroughly. Many are brands we have affiliate partnerships with. That can affect which brands we cover and where they appear on a page. It does not change the facts we report. More on this in our Editorial Policy.
